Is it "Wulff" or "Farquhar-Wulff"?

What’s in a name?

When Sierra and I got married, we decided to keep our legal names but hyphenate our surnames informally. So “Daniel Wulff” is my legal name, but I use “Daniel Farquhar-Wulff” when I remember to :D For some things like LinkedIn and this website I’m keeping “Wulff” as it’s important for search engines and networking.

I grew up with a pretty typical English view of names, where your given name is chosen by your parents and your surname comes from your father. I really had no clue that so many other patterns exist around the world. Ultimately, we liked the idea of keeping some of each of our heritages intact so we hyphenate in scenarios where a legal name is not strictly required. We’ll hyphenate our children’s names, and then they can figure out what to do with the problem of having too many surnames when they get married haha.
