About Me
Hi there. I'm Daniel Farquhar-Wulff (or is it just "Wulff"?). I'm an American living in (checks notes) Birmingham, England currently. You'll find a little bit of everything in this blog. I am a front-end developer professionally. Additional I pursue photography as a hobby, I'm a new dad, and I was recently diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (the autoimmune one) . I love the outdoors, interesting stories, food and drink and I'm a bit of a nerd so you may see me talking about video games, movies, Lego etc from time to time.
Originally from Oregon, my wife Sierra and I decided we wanted to try something different, a new country, a new pace of life. So in 2022, we moved to the UK in pursuit of a master's in choral conducting and a solid start to her career. We've so far loved our time in the Midlands, where we we live with our newborn Son and our dog Finn.
Work stuff
After the odd job in high school and college I got a degree in Electrical Engineering but quickly jumped ship after a not great first job. I now work as a Software Engineer, mostly focusing on website front-end development but with some mobile experience too. I've used my fair share of frameworks with most of my experience in Angular, but I enjoy using Astro, Vue, Lit and Flutter at the moment. If you're interested in hearing more about where I've worked or what I've done, you can check out my LinkedIn.
Life stuff
In August 2024, I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. It's been a huge life transition. I've enjoyed writing a bit about my experience in the hope of helping others in their T1D journey. It feels a little like relearning how to ride a bike. When I'm not working or changing diapers, I'm often out adventuring with the dog, shooting landscape and nature photography, fixing something weird around the house, or trying every interesting-looking restaurant in Birmingham (the food scene here is seriously underrated.) Why This Blog? Some days I'm tweaking UI components, other days I'm writing about a hike with the kiddo strapped to my chest. This blog is a bit of everything — tech, life abroad, photography, diabetes, DIY, and more. It's my digital backpack. Full of helpful kit, a camera, some stories I've collected, and more than a few snacks for the road.
